MLS Soccer Betting at BetDSI: New York City FC vs Philadelphia
Friday, April 10th, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: New York City FC and Philadelphia will become very familiar with each other this week in MLS action, as they meet twice over the next six days. New York comes in well rested after having last weekend off following their 1 - 0 loss to Kansas City at Yankee Stadium on March 28.
The will have to lace up their boots three times over the next nine days and play Philadelphiaon April 11, the Union again in New York onApril 16, and a quick turnaround to face Portland at Yankee Stadium on the 19th. NYCFC has been solid defensively so far in their inaugural season in MLS with only two goals allowed through four matches in 2015, but they have been held to two straight clean sheets coming to PPL Park this weekend.
Philadelphia has not found any success stopping their opponents in 2015 as they lead the league with nine goals allowed in the early season. The two goals they allowed last weekend were probably the most heartbreaking of all of the nine. They held a 2 - 1 lead as the referee announced that 4 minutes would be added when the 90 minute mark passed. Kansas City found the net in the 91st and 94th minutes to send Philly packing for home with yet another defeat. This made it three in a row in the loss column and Philly is still seeking their first win of 2015.
Naturally, you would think that the Union's confidence took a big hit after seeing three points disappear when it was so close in their grasp.
The Union will be turning to their young goalkeeper, John McCarthy, who grew up in the Philadelphia area and dreamed of playing professional soccer. He was the USL GK of the year in 2014, as well as the Rookie of the Year in the league, after four solid years in college at LaSalle.
One of our favorite things about the Union's MLS page is the mention of fans at the River End, with the singing, chanting and 90 minutes of madness that they create. When you visit the site to purchase tickets for games at PPL Park, you will see in small print, 'This section may not suitable for children due to standing, and adult language'. Not in Philadelphia, no never! Let's just call them passionate fans, and let your imagine go to work.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
Well, it is certainly good that the Union recognized that they better start thinking about moving in a different direction with the results of Rais Mbolhi between the sticks this year. Of course, McCarthy recognizes that this NYCFC team has plenty of high-profile players with World Cup experience who can present problems for his first outing in his MLS career. At the same token, you would imagine that NYCFC will want to introduce themselves to a rookie goalkeeper as quick and as often as they can.
The problem is that New York's offense has been absent in their last two outings. However, they were without some of the bigger names against Colorado for the international break in their scoreless draw with the Rapids.
But the question is, was it simply Mbolhi's fault that the team defense has been lit up all season or is it simply the defense themselves?
Keep in mind that Philadelphia only scored one of the two goals you saw on the score sheet from last weekend, as Kansas City put a ball in their own net just minutes into that game. So, you will hope that would be avoided in this one.
We are going to suggest the Under 2.5 here, with a new keeper in Philly, and the lack of offensive presence for NYCFC as a whole this season. The line setters seem to be expecting a low-scoring game, so let's see if agreeing with them is the right thing to do.
