MLS Soccer Betting at BetDSI: New York City FC vs DC United
Wednesday, August 12th, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: DC United look to stay atop the Eastern Conference standings as they make their first trip to Yankee Stadiumthis Fridaynight against expansion side NYCFC. DC United goalkeeper Bill Hamid returned from injury last weekend to lead the team to their seventh clean sheet of the season, after beating Montreal by a 1 - 0 scoreline for the second time this year. The two met on opening day at RFK Stadium where Hamid secured his first shutout of the year. He also had to come up with eight saves against the Impact this past weekend at Stade Saputo to help secure the win.
DC United scored on their only official shot on goal which was also their only shot attempt in the entire game, when Chris Rolfe found the net in the 13th minute of action. On paper, you would never think the team that came away with three points would be the victor, as the Impact dominated every stat in the game except the most important one: the scoreboard.
United sits two points ahead of Vancouver for the best record in the league, hoping to secure the Supporters Shield with nine games left in their regular season. They are eight points clear of the New York Red Bulls in the Eastern Conference, with Columbus 10 points behind in third place.
Fabian Espindola is set to miss the next two games at least, as he will also miss the Champions League encounter with Arabe Unido in Mexico as well as this match with a knee injury. Michael Farfan is the only other player on the MLS injury report, but could return this week.
NYCFC enters the weekend after a disappointing 2 - 0 loss to the Red Bulls, who swept the three-game series with the expansion side this season. It was the first time this season that the trio of Pirlo, Lampard and Villa were in the starting XI, but neither had much success to speak of in the defeat.
New York currently sits four points outside the playoff picture entering the weekend, with Orlando City and Montreal currently tied for the sixth position in the table with 28 points.
With a tough schedule to finish out August, New York will head to Columbus and Los Angeles upon departing Yankee Stadium after the match, while again having to face the Crew at home onAugust 29to close out the month.
Riding a two-game skid and only securing 4 points in their last five outings, New York has 11 games remaining in their season in hopes of making the playoffs in their first year in MLS.
Ned Grabavoy, Khiry Shelton and Chris Wingert sat out last weekend, and Wingert will be on the shelf a bit longer than expected with a hamstring injury. Grabavoy and Shelton are close to returning to the lineup.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
NYCFC has proven that you can bring in stars upon stars to give your team a boost, but they did not look like a club with a wealth of experience last weekend and got badly outplayed by the Red Bulls in the 2 - 0 loss.
With Bill Hamid back in the DC lineup, he obviously gets up for big games, and would love to come out of this big matchup with another clean sheet added to his resume against all these international players in New York.
The crowd at Yankee Stadium will obviously give New York a lift, and we know that scoring has not been an issue on this field, despite its smaller dimensions.
The Over 2.5 at -145 is a bit out of our comfort zone of course, as we have not offered a play over -135 the entire season, so it won't start today because we are moving this total up to get a better price. The Over 3 comes to the board here, and the price is lovely at +125.
Even with Hamid back, we cannot expect this NYCFC club to be shutout in consecutive outings, so a 2 - 1 scoreline is, at worst, likely to come to fruition.
