MLS Odds: The Los Angeles Galaxy will play nine straight games in California in all competitions, after getting it started with their mid-week U.S Open Cup gamethis Wednesday against PSA Elite of theUnited Premier Soccer League.

The Galaxy found themselves down a goal to the UPSL club in the 9th minute of the game, but proceeded to pour in six unanswered goals to move on to the round of 16 in the Open Cup. They will now face San Jose onJuly 1at Avaya Stadium, in hopes of making it back to the quarterfinals, a feat they could not achieve last season. The MLS champions lost to the Carolina Railhawks of the NASL in the round of 16 in 2014.

The Galaxy hosted PSA Elite, and will play Philly and Portland at home before facing off twice against San Jose in back to back games. The first meeting with San Jose will be part of the MLS schedule onJune 27and will played at the University of Stanford's stadium, and the second meeting will be for the U.S Open Cup matchJuly 1, as mentioned.

Los Angeles will return home for four games after the back-to-back meetings with San Jose. They will play two MLS matches against Toronto, while again clashing with San Jose onJuly 17, and will play two International Champions Cup matches against Club America who, if you recall, beat Montreal for the Champions League title, and Barcelona, who might seem familiar to anyone with a pulse who follows European football.

The Galaxy has had plenty of success in the small sample size of MLS meetings the two have had since the Union joined MLS in 2010. The defending champions have won five of the seven contests, losing only once to Philadelphia, with one draw in the mix.

Coach Bruce Arena is likely to have all his weapons back this weekend, with Gyasi Zardes, Robbie Keane, and Jaime Penedo all set to return from international duty. Edison Buddle will be out with a groin strain andBradford Jamieson IV is still dealing with concussion symptoms and will have to pass protocol requirements to return to the field.

The last time the Galaxy were at StubHub Center they lost 1 - 0 to Vancouver, marking their first home loss of the season.

The Philadelphia Union also advanced in their U.S Open Cup match against Rochesteron Tuesday, but they didn't make it easy, having to escape after penalty kicks. John McCarthy, a former Rochester product, saved three shots from the spot, while adding five saves in a scoreless draw that required extra time, and a pressure filled shootout to advance.

Philadelphia will host DC United in the round of 16 onJune 30, in hopes of advancing to the quarterfinals of the U.S Cup, hoping to also return to the finals, where they lost to Seattle at PPL Park last season, in extra time 3 - 1.

The Union will return home for five games after the trip to LA, including three MLS matches, their U.S Cup outing with DC United, and a friendly match with Bournemouth onJuly 14.

    Quick Analysis & Prediction

    Quick Analysis:

If ever there was a time for the Galaxy to get back on track, now would be it.

Having only a one-hour flight to San Jose over the next month will surely be seen as an advantage, and Bruce Arena has got to get this team back to form, sooner rather than later. He is still dealing with a few injuries, but by having Keane, Penedo and Zardes back, with a healthy Omar Gonzalez on the back line as well, there is enough in place to put an expectation on this team for the rest of the season.

John McCarthy's play against Rochester should also give him some confidence, as the Union we know have had some issues with goalkeeping this year, still leading the league in goals allowed with 25.

We would love to suggest the +1 with Philly in this spot, but that line of -140 is simply not holding enough value in our opinion.

Taking Overs with LA is also a dangerous proposition lately, although they do have the experience back in place that should create enough opportunities to find the net a time or two.

We are suggesting this Over 2.5 at even money, as the +100 is fair enough to expect a 2 - 1 LA win, when it is all said and done.
