MLS Soccer Betting at BetDSI: Houston vs Real Salt Lake
Friday, September 11th, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: In a battle between Houston and Salt Lake, two teams outside of the playoff picture entering the weekend, three points for either team would factor in nicely if there is any chance either one will make the post season. Real Salt Lake finds themselves alone at the bottom of the Western Conference standings with 32 points, and face a nine-point deficit behind the final playoff spot currently held by the Portland Timbers.
RSL has lost four of their last five league games, and were also knocked out of the U.S Open Cup in mid-August, while being held scoreless on three separate occasions. Salt Lake has the worst goal differential in the Western Conference with a -11 ratio, and they are the only team in the conference to have allowed 40 goals.
The Utah-based club will only have three games on the September schedule, but two of those games will be played away from Rio Tinto Stadium. They will also have to play a home and home series in the CONCACAF Champions League against Santa Tecla in the month.
Two players are suspended for Salt Lake this weekend. Luke Mulholland and Tony Beltran picked up yellow cards in their last outing with Dallas, but they will also be without the services of Chris Schuler for the rest of the season after having surgery to repair bone spurs in his ankle.
Houston enters the weekend six points behind Portland's sixth place spot that holds a post-season berth, and the Dynamo will play three of their four games in September right here at BBVA Compass Stadium.
The Dynamo also have the benefit of a 13-day layoff to prepare for the final seven-game run of the regular season, and are coming off a big 2 - 0 home win against Vancouver. The Dynamo caught Vancouver after the Canadian Championship victory, and the natural letdown by the Canadian side was in full effect, as we expected it to be.
This is the second and final meeting between the teams this season, as Salt Lake took the opening affair 2 - 0 in Utah back in mid-July.
Houston has three players on the official MLS injury report this weekend, asJermaine Taylor will be out for an extended period with a right quad tear, DaMarcus Beasley is dealing with a left calf strain, andKofi Sarkodie has a bone bruise in his right knee.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
With only three points separating the two teams, this heads-up match could prove vital towards the post-season, and this could be Salt Lake's undoing if they come out of BBVA without any type of result.
Houston has enjoyed home cookin' this season, with a 7 - 3 - 3 record in their 13 games played at the Compass, and Real Salt Lake has played eight straight league games on the road without a point.
If home and away means anything, and it usually does, Houston has the edge and has the goal scorers to likely come out of this match with three points, to put one of the final nails in the Salt Lake coffin.
We are suggesting the -120 offer on the 3-Way 1x2 line with the home side here, expecting Houston to keep on truckin' towards the post-season with home field advantage hopefully on their side.
