MLS Odds: San Jose comes flying into RFK Stadium to take on DC United, as the Earthquakes had a record setting performance from Chris Wondolowski this pastWednesday. With the Quakes’ 5 - 0 win over Kansas City, Wondo set the MLS record for consecutive seasons with double digit goals scored with six, breaking the tie with two other players who had done it five times.

Juan Pablo Angel accomplished the five-year feat from 2007 to 2011, and Carlos Ruiz was the first to achieve a five season streak from 2002 to 2006. The only player with a similar active streak is the Galaxy's Robbie Keane, who extended his current streak to four seasons this year.

San Jose is trying to climb back into the playoff picture after a miserable July that saw them go from the top three in the West to falling as far as eighth place in the standings.

With the Quakes current two-game win streak, they sit a mere three points behind Seattle for the sixth and final playoff position in the conference.

San Jose has only surrendered a single goal in their last four outings, and have earned seven points over that span with two wins, a loss and a draw. They have now pulled themselves even on goal differential with 29 for and against this season.

DC United has taken three of the last four meetings in the series, although San Jose does lead the all-time series with 5 Wins in 11 MLS meetings as noted below.

United holds a five-point lead over the second place Red Bulls entering this weekend's action, although they are coming off a disheartening 3 - 1 loss to the other New York team last Thursday.

After taking a 1 - 0 lead to the half, United gave up three second-half goals to NYCFC, despite the efforts of Bill Hamid who did all he could to keep his team in the game. The United defense was a train wreck in the second half, and they hung Hamid out to dry so often that a clothesline was installed behind his net.

Jokes aside, Hamid was throwing his fists and screaming at his back line time after time, and the game could have gotten much uglier had Hamid not been in net.

    Quick Analysis & Prediction

    Quick Analysis:

If San Jose had not gone out and scored five goals against Kansas City, we imagine this total would not be -115 towards the Over, because both defenses usually are well prepared and sound.

After seeing the United defense piss off Hamid that much, we can only imagine that he will not be fun to be around this week in practice.

San Jose does not normally have to deal with the east coast heat, but it is going to be humid and hot this weekend in the nation's capital. That will likely slow the match down in the early going, and take some getting used to for both teams actually.

We are going to expect a low-scoring draw type of match to take place here, although the United defense is the reason why we are not going to touch the total.

We are going to offer the San Jose +0.5 handicap line at -110, with that draw expectation on the game.

A 1 - 1 result would cash that ticket, and we have more faith in the San Jose defense than we do with DC United, despite the fact that DC is building another home streak again.
