    NY--DC united odds

MLS Odds:Ironically enough, the last time DC United tasted defeat, it was against these Red Bulls in NY. That was quite a while ago, however, and the Black and Reds have not lost their last 9 matches since then.

With a crazy 2 - 1 win in the knockout match, leading MLS scorer Bradley Wright-Phillips added to his 27-goal resume on the season with both goals for New York. DC United has had 8 days from their last match with Montreal to find out who they would be facing, and now they will open the home and home on the road, and get to play the back side of the series at RFK Stadium onNovember 8.

They do have the best defense in all of MLS with only 37 goals allowed, and they will need to find a way to use that to their advantage and keep Wright-Phillips contained.

New York missed plenty of opportunities in the Kansas City match, at least 3 of which were in the 6 and just poorly finished. They will need to capitalize on those chances if they want to move on.

    Quick Analysis & Prediction

    Quick Analysis:

After seeing the way New York simply gets no production from Tim Cahill whatsoever, and really has no cohesion as an offense, it is tough to think they can manage a result against United, even at home.

Both of Wright-Phillips goals, especially the game winner, were chances he should never have had. He was left all alone at the top of the 6-yard box to freely put a header off the post and in, but any other goalkeeper would have easily gone out and contested such a high cross.

I am not impressed with New York at all. I have seen most, if not all, of their matches this season. Being a New Yorker who can take advantage of access to everything Red Bulls, it does not make me biased. I really am not a fan of any MLS team per se, so I have no bias for or against them.

I will take DC United and that more than lovely +140 on the Pk, expecting them to understand that this is a home and home and they do not need to do anything but get a draw and do the rest at home. With a bet like this, they can draw and I will lose no sleep over it and get my money back for another bet later.
