MLS Soccer Betting at BetDSI: DC United vs New York City FC
Thursday, October 1st, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: The last time DC United and NYCFC got together onAugust 13, NYCFC came away with a 3 - 1 win, it began the six-game stretch of games without a win for the capital club.
United has been in a position to clinch a spot in the post-season for weeks, but has been unable to get results and yet to clinch a playoff bid this year as the teams behind them keep winning. One of those teams behind them is NYCFC, who rides a three-game win streak into this weekend, clinging to their playoff hopes in their inaugural MLS season.
NYCFC has been facing post-season elimination for the last two weekends, and has won all three of their outings in an 11-day stretch against clubs who are in their own playoff chase. While taking out San Jose, Toronto and Vancouver, the New Yorkers have outscored the three of them 7 - 3, and have scored at least two goals in each of their wins.
Their win against Vancouver couldn't have come in stranger fashion, as it appeared that a draw was the likely outcome after Vancouver converted a penalty kick to level the game at one in the 88th minute.
Frank Lampard scored the opening goal of the match just before the half-hour mark, and with only seconds remaining in extra time, Lampard was again involved with a controversial decision by the referee that awarded NYCFC a penalty shot. After a clean steal from Matias Laba just inside the box on Lampard, the ref saw it differently as Lampard dove to the ground to get the call.
You could hear the Vancouver crowd incensed that the call was made, and even the NYCFC announcer, Ian Joy, confirmed that he too thought the call was unjustified, but there is no crying in football, and NYCFC came away with three points with a 2 - 1 road win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
United has been going backwards since having their three-game win streak snapped by NYCFC as we mentioned. OnAugust 8, it appeared as if DC United were on the path to the playoffs, and if you recall, they had an early 13-point lead in the Eastern Conference as we reached the mid-way point of the campaign.
All United needs to do is beat NYCFC to clinch a berth in the post-season, and yet they can still find their way there with a drawon Friday, combined with a loss or draw from Orlando City against Montrealon Saturday.
What might be an even tougher pill to swallow for United, is the fact that they have gone four Champions League matches without a loss, while unable to get results in league play.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
Desperate times call for desperate measures, and NYCFC is the team playing like they understand what is at stake, while United simply cannot find a way to win lately.
Even more amazingly, DC United is barely favored to win this outing, with the line setters unsure of their ability to win, listing them at home with a +145 offer, which we have not seen the likes of in who knows how long.
Remember now, United at home over the last two seasons have set a team record for games without a loss at RFK Stadium, and they have not lost back-to-back affairs in the capital in quite some time.
We are calling for the NYCFC playoff fantasy to continuethis Friday, because DC United simply does not have the where with all to right the ship.
At +105 on the Pk Draw no Bet action, NYCFC makes our board until they are eliminated, which is exactly why they spent the money to bring in Lampard and Pirlo in the summer window.
