MLS Odds: With the lights starting to dim on this season’s Colorado Rapids’ playoff hopes, they play host to the first place team in Eastern Conference DC United at Dick's Sporting Goods Parkon Saturdaynight. The Rapids enter the weekend with 33 points, and are trying to make up the eight-point disadvantage in the Western Conference standings behind Portland who currently holds the sixth and final playoff position.

Colorado had their three-game win streak snapped last weekend by the Vancouver Whitecaps, as Octavio Rivero continued to pay dividends after joining the Caps at the trade deadline. In the 2 - 0 loss, the Rapids had five of their shots blocked, and they allowed Vancouver to take 16 shots towards the net. The two goals Vancouver scored came just four minutes apart, although it took until the 73rd minute to break the 0 - 0 deadlock.

Luis Solignac and Jared Watts are likely out again this weekend for the Rapids, but Axel Sjoberg and Drew Moor are set to return after serving their one-match ban last weekend against Vancouver.

DC United is trying to shake off a three-game losing skid of their own entering the weekend, and their recent results have led to three teams pulling within four points of their lead in the Eastern Conference. They were completely dominated by the Red Bulls in their last outing on August 30th, suffering a 3 - 0 defeat while being held to only two shots on goal, neither of which created much of a threat.

The Red Bulls are only two points behind United in the East, with the Crew being three points back, and New England trailing behind with 40 points.

With 44 points, DC United has given way to both Los Angeles and Vancouver towards their hopes of a Supporters Shield, which comes with home field advantage throughout the post-season.

DC United has a tricky schedule ahead of them, as they will return home with only two days rest to compete in the CONCACAF Champions League against Arabe Unido, with Columbus coming to town the following weekend.

United has only one win in Colorado since the 2000 season in 13 attempts.

The Capital club will be withoutChris Korb who is done for the seasonwhileJared Jeffrey and Fabian Espindola will also be on the sidelines for United this weekend.

    Quick Analysis & Prediction

    Quick Analysis:

With a major sense of urgency for the Rapids, while the same can be said for United as they struggle for results, we expect a wide open affair here at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park this weekend.

We have already seen that Colorado may not have the best luck finding the net, but it is not due to lack of trying, as we have seen them pour in shot after shot with some tough results against them.

This Over 2.5 goes in as our prediction this weekend, and at -115 on the action, there is no reason to shy away from the expectation of goals being scored.

As we have stated before, the more pressure in the late portion of the season, the more likely that mistakes will happen all around this league, so expect the goals to come when you put in your Over 2.5 ticket at -115.
