    Feature-Sevilla-vs-Atletico-Madrid Odds

Soccer Betting: With only 12 goals scored throughout La Liga to open the new campaign, the second round gets underway with a three-day weekend of matches. After a weekend where we saw four scoreless draws and only two teams score more than one goal, the highly anticipated new season didn't exactly get off to a resounding start.

Eibar is atop the La Liga table! We can almost bet you didn't think you would hear those words at all this year, but after a three-goal performance against Granada to open the campaign, Eibar does hold the top spot in the table, as brief as it may be.

The Sevilla and Atletico Madrid contest is our featured match of the weekend at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, as Sevilla opens their home portion of the new season after drawing with Malaga at La Rosaleda last weekend.

Atletico scored early to take a 1 - 0 victory over new arrivals Las Palmas, but did not look all that convincing to open the campaign.

Plenty of other big matches to discuss, so let's get to the pitch and see what we have in store for round two around the Liga BBVA.

    Friday August 28- 1 Match

    Villarreal vs Espanyol

    3-Way: 1: Villarreal -185 Home X: +290 Draw 2: Espanyol +650 Away

    Spread: Villarreal -1 -110 Espanyol +1 -110

    Total 2.5: Over +115 Under -135

    Analysis and Prediction:

Villarreal had gone 12 consecutive outings against Espanyol without a loss until their second leg meeting here at El Madrigal last season. Espanyol snapped the run with a 3 - 0 win, while limiting Villarreal to no shots on frame until the second half.

Villarreal will be without their captain Bruno Soriano after picking up a red card in extra time against Betis last weekend. Things got rather heated between the two clubs as the crime was committed that earned Soriano the sending off the pitch.

Espanyol was one of the five clubs that came away with three points on opening weekend, after a 1 - 0 home win over Getafe in which Salva Sevilla scored in just the third minute of the match. There were more yellow cards (7), than there were shots on target (5), and Getafe's Argentine full back Santiago Vergini picked up two of those yellow cards to leave the Azulones down a man for the final 10 minutes of the match.

The Espanyol +1 at -110 seems like a fair enough offer with minimal juice attached to it, as we expect them to certainly not lose to Villarreal by more than a goal. A 2 - 1 result would not be the worst thing we could see, and a push on the action would simply give us our money back.

    Real Madrid vs Betis

    3-Way: 1: Madrid -800 Home X: +900 Draw 2: Betis +1850 Away

    Spread: Madrid -2 -150 Betis +2 +130

    Total 3.5: Over -125 Under +105

    Analysis and Prediction:

Newcomers Gijon made quite a showing against Real Madrid last weekend to open the campaign, and their goalkeeper Iván Cuéllar should obviously get some credit after making 8 saves in the scoreless draw for newly promoted Gijon.

Now a second meeting for Real Madrid against a newly promoted club comes calling to Santiago Bernabéu, after Betis came up with a point against Villarreal at home last weekend with their 1 - 1 draw.

Benzema got back to training this weekend after missing the campaign opener with a thigh injury that has had him out of the lineup for a few weeks, but is hopeful to get on the pitch this weekend even if as a late sub.

We doubt Betis will have much success finding the net in this majestic building, and despite all the shots Madrid put up last weekend, in watching the match, they simply did not seem very convincing in the season opener against Gijon.

Of course things change from week to week and matchup to matchup, and we will see plenty of moments throughout the year when Madrid pours on the offense and humiliates an opponent.

We will wait until they break out to suggest any totals, but we will take a chance on the +2 handicap at +130 with Betis.

    Real Sociedad vs Gijon

    3-Way: 1: Sociedad -105 Home X: +235 Draw 2: Gijon +325 Away

    Spread: Sociedad -0.5 -105 Gijon +0.5 -115

    Total 2: Over -125 Under +105

    Analysis and Prediction:

We mentioned the scoreless draw for Gijon against Madrid. Sociedad was also among the clubs that played to a 0 - 0 draw with Deportivo to open the campaign.

The line setters decided to put a -125 on the Over 2, however, so they must know something we don't, because they might be expecting goals here.

We will see if we can't catch them tipping their hand a bit, and recommend that Over 2 at -125.

    Celta Vigo vs Rayo Vallecano

    3-Way: 1: Vigo -180 Home X: +320 Draw 2: Vallecano +500 Away

    Spread: Vigo -1 -115 Vallecano +1 -105

    Total 3: Over +130 Under -150

    Analysis and Prediction:

Celta Vigo was the only club besides Eibar to score more than a goal on opening weekend, as they found two on the road at Levante to get their campaign under way.

Vallecano was another of the clubs to have played in one of the four scoreless draws, but they did against Valencia, which is no easy proposition.

This is another strange total to be offered with a straight 3 on the board, when we in no way, shape, or form can suggest that we will see three or more goals in this match.

We will suggest the Vigo -1 at -115 at Balaidos, expecting the home side to come away with three points in convincing fashion. Hopefully it will be like the one we saw when the two played here last season, when Vigo dumped in six goals that evening at home.

    Barcelona vs Malaga

    3-Way: 1: Barcelona -740 Home X: +850 Draw 2: Malaga +1750 Away

    Spread: Barcelona -2.5 +110 Malaga +2.5 -130

    Total 3.5: Over -105 Under -115

    Analysis and Prediction:

Barca defender Dani Alves came out of the season opener just 19 minutes in to the match, and it is being reported that he will be out for a month or so with a lame groin.

Neymar is close to returning however, but is also expected to miss this weekend's home opener at Camp Nou. We know Barcelona's defense is what separated them enough to take the La Liga title last season, and they have already held their first opponent to a clean sheet.

With that expectation against Malaga this weekend, we will turn to this total and offer the Under 3.5 at -115, expecting a 2 - 0 home win and no goals allowed for the second straight match for Barcelona.

    Sunday August 30- 5 Matches

Featured Match Sevilla vs Atletico Madrid

    3-Way 1x2 Lines:

    Sevilla +185

    Atletico +165

    Draw +225

    Spread:

    Sevilla Pk +100

    Atletico Pk -120

    Total 2:

    Over -145

    Under +125

    Analysis and Prediction:

The line setters have come out and revealed that they have no idea who is going to take this match, and both clubs really did not look very impressive to get the campaign started.

Atletico did what we know them for last weekend, and that is to buckle down on defense, and find the net somehow to steal three points. The second half of that Las Palmas / Atletico match was like watching paint dry, as there was not a single real threat for either club to speak of, leaving the 16th minute goal by Griezmann as the difference in the 1 - 0 win for Atletico.

The Sevilla match with Malaga was another of those tough matches to view, as Sevilla put up one shot in each half, and also never really came close to finding the back of the net in their scoreless draw.

Atletico should come out of this match with some type of result, albeit 1 - 0 could likely be the final score, so the Atletico Pl Draw no Bet action at -120 will make the board this weekend.

    Getafe vs Granada

    3-Way: 1: Getafe +115 Home X: +220 Draw 2: Granada +285 Away

    Spread: Getafe -0.5 +115 Granada +0.5 -135

    Total 2: Over -110 Under -110

    Analysis and Prediction:

Salvadore Ruiz pretty much removed any chance of a comeback against Eibar at home last weekend for Granada, as the defender was upfield after his team pulled the game to within 2 - 1, and then made a terrible tackle that earned him a straight red card for the offense.

Getafe completely controlled the second half in their 1 - 0 loss to Espanyol, but were obviously unable to find the equalizing goal that was scored in the third minute by Espanyol's Salva Sevilla.

Surprised to see a straight two offered on this total, since we expect both teams to be able convert scoring opportunities, with a third goal likely to come late in the second half.

We are suggesting this Over 2 at a rather reasonable -110.

    Valencia vs Dep. La Coruna

    3-Way: 1: Valencia -200 Home X: +325 Draw 2: Deportivo +625 Away

    Spread: Valencia -1 -120 Deportivo +1 +100

    Total 2.5: Over -120 Under +100

    Analysis and Prediction:

Another meeting of two clubs who were involved with scoreless draws to open the campaign meet at Mestalla this weekend, although Valencia advanced to the Champions League Group Stage this week after getting past Monaco in qualifying this week.

Valencia can now start their home portion of the campaign with the advantage of hosing Deportivo, and we see a bit of a drubbing coming here as long as Valencia comes out and does what we expect them to do.

The -1 handicap line on Valencia is making our board this weekend, because we have zero faith that Deportivo will have much success on the road again this season. Remember, only Cordoba who no longer is in top flight Spanish football scored less goals away from home than Deportivo did a season ago.

    Eibar vs Athletic Bilbao

    3-Way: 1: Eibar +295 Home X: +215 Draw 2: Bilbao +110 Away

    Spread: Eibar +0.5 -130 Bilbao -0.5 +110

    Total 2: Over -105 Under -115

    Analysis and Prediction:

Why the line setters would slap a straight 2 on this total is beyond us.

Eibar opens their home campaign after having the most success of any club in La Liga finding the net last weekend, and Bilbao has been playing seemingly week after week with Barcelona lately, as those two met three times in about two weeks.

Bilbao again gave Barcelona all they could handle to start the season with a 1 - 0 loss to the defending La Liga champs, and they should have some success finding the net at Ipurua.

The Over 2 at a reasonable -115 will make the board in this affair.

    Las Palmas vs Levante

    3-Way: 1: Las Palmas -105 Home X: +235 Draw 2: Levante +340 Away

    Spread: Las Palmas -0.5 -105 Levante +0.5 -115

    Total 2: Over -110 Under -110

    Analysis and Prediction:

Las Palmas now gets to introduce their fans at Gran Canaria to top flight football, and luckily they get to do it against a Levante club that is simply going to be among the teams fighting to stay in top flight for most of the year.

We can already surmise that Levante will struggle this year to stay afloat in La Liga, and it is not just because of an opening day defeat at the hands of Celta Vigo at home.

This is another spot to offer a total on a match, because we will take almost any Levante total when it sits at a simple 2 all year long. The Over 2 at -110 makes the suggestion box as our final prediction of the second round of La Liga action.
