For the next few months the attention will be on the Republican side as they choose a nominee for November. It could be down to just two after the Iowa caucuses with Mitt Romney the favorite against Rick Santorum. There will be betting odds available on the various state primaries in upcoming weeks.
Odds to Win 2012 Republican Nomination
Mitt Romney -400
Rick Santorum +900
Newt Gingrich +1500
Ron Paul +1500
Jon Huntsman +1800
Rick Perry +5000
This is basically a two-man race between Romney and Santorum. Gingrich and Paul had their chance in Iowa and neither came through with a win. Huntsman is pulling out all the stops in New Hampshire so perhaps he can get in the race but it seems unlikely while Perry is done.
Odds to Win 2012 USA Presidential Election
Barack Obama -165
The advantage for President Obama is that he is the incumbent and the incumbent always has a big advantage. The problem for Obama is that the U.S. economy is a mess and many people simply don’t like or trust the president. It may not matter though as the Republicans don’t have a strong candidate.
Mitt Romney +140
Most people believe that Romney will win the Republican nomination but he is not someone to get excited about. He is a seasoned politician with a huge political machine and he simply doesn’t have great appeal. He could still win though as he has a ton of money and anyone other than Obama has a real chance.
Rick Santorum +4000
There is some value at odds of 40-1 on Santorum. He appeals to many of the Tea Party Republicans and has values that used to mean something in America. Unfortunately, many Americans don’t have strong values anymore as they would prefer to let the government take care of them.
Democrats Win the Election -165
Republicans Win the Election +155
