It is one race down and nine more to go in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. This week the drivers head to New Hampshire for the Sylvania 300 on Sunday on ESPN. Let’s take a look at the odds and make our picks.
Denny Hamlin 5-1
Jimmie Johnson 5.5-1
Kasey Kahne 5.5-1
Brad Keselowski 6-1
Tony Stewart 6.5-1
Jeff Gordon 9-1
Kyle Busch 9-1
Dale Earnhardt Jr. 9.5-1
Clint Bowyer 11-1
Martin Truex Jr. 11-1
Kevin Harvick 15-1
Greg Biffle 25-1
Matt Kenseth 25-1
Ryan Newman 25-1
Carl Edwards 25-1
Field 11-1
Brad Keselowski won in Chicago last week as he just got past Jimmie Johnson and it is Keselowski who now has the points lead. Last year in this race it was Tony Stewart winning as he took a big early lead on his way to winning the championship. Two years ago it was Clint Bowyer winning while Mark Martin won the race three years ago. There have been a total of 35 Sprint Cup races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The pole sitter has won this race four times.
When it comes to picking a winner recently at New Hampshire you just throw a dart and hope for the best. The last two Chase races at New Hampshire came down to fuel mileage. The favorite is Denny Hamlin and he has won at New Hampshire in the past and was second back in July at the track. Hamlin came into the Chase as one of the favorites but after a poor finish last week at Chicago he need to make up some ground. It should start this week so I will take Hamlin at 5-1. I also like Johnson at 5.5-1 as he has won this race three times in the past and is always in contention. My longshot in NASCAR predictions is Clint Bowyer at 11-1. He has won twice at Loudon and could very easily be in the mix for the win on Sunday.
