    NASCAR Betting

The Daytona 500 is just a couple of weeks away so now is the time to get ready for 2012 NASCAR betting. There have been some changes in NASCAR, mainly to the teams, but there has also been a change to the cars. Let’s look at some things we need to know heading into the 2012 NASCAR season.

    EFI

You may not have known what EFI stands for but you will now as it stands for electronic fuel injection. This will be the first year that NASCAR is putting fuel injection into the cars, finally getting rid of the carburetor. This change is long, long overdue but as with any change, there will be an adjustment period. “We’ve been used to the carburetor for so long,” said Jimmy Makar, senior vice president of racing operations at Joe Gibbs Racing. “We know every little aspect of it – what to look out for, how to make sure you don’t get yourself in trouble. There are still a lot of unknowns with EFI. We have to work through them.” We know that teams will have to adjust to fuel injectors but what really matters to bettors is how it affects the races. And it will have an impact. One of the biggest changes with the switch to EFI is improved fuel mileage. The other change is that when a car runs out of gas they are really out. There is no pushing it too far because you can’t go side to side any longer and pick up more. Ryan Newman’s crew chief Tony Gibson said that teams will have to plan strategy. “It can be really tough to get these things refired when they run out.” he said, “So, how far do we push it? We have to think about that when we’re planning strategy on fuel mileage.”

    Kasey Kahne

You need to be well aware that Kasey Kahne is now with Hendrick Motorsports. He will be driving the #5 in place of Mark Martin. While Martin was an adequate driver, Kahne is a possible star. Bettors have also come to this conclusion as Kahne is getting pounded in NASCAR futures as he is now the second choice behind only Jimmie Johnson to win the 2012 Sprint Cup title.

Also keep an eye on A.J. Allmendinger who goes over to Penske in place of Kurt Busch.
