Tony Stewart Wins Sprint Cup Title 2011

A thrilling finish to the 2011 season in NASCAR odds at Diamond sportsbook had Tony Stewart beating Carl Edwards to win the Sprint Cup Championship. Stewart won the race at Homestead-Miami in the season finale while Edwards finished second.

    Stewart Wins Tiebreaker

Both Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards finished tied in the final points standings but Stewart won the title because of the tiebreaker, most victories. Stewart won five of the ten Chase races in NASCAR betting while Edwards had just one win. The tiebreaker was needed for the first time in NASCAR history. Stewart is the first owner/driver to win the title since Alan Kulwicki did it in 1992. He also ends Jimmie Johnson’s five-year run at winning the championship. Stewart can thank crew chief Darian Grubb who made superb calls in the pits and with gas mileage to put Stewart in a position to win.

    Edwards Classy in Defeat

If there was ever a guy who looks good in defeat it is Carl Edwards. He did everything he could to win the Sprint Cup title but it just wasn’t meant to be. He was extremely gracious in defeat and showed the class that is oftentimes missing in NASCAR. He led 119 of the 267 laps in the last race of the year but he couldn’t chase down Stewart to get the win. "I told my wife, 'If I can't win this thing, I'm going to be the best loser NASCAR has ever had.' So, I'm going to try really hard to keep my head up and know that we'll just go next year and we'll be just as hard to beat." Edwards said. "If I could do it all over again, there's nothing I could have done differently," he said.
