NASCAR Odds - Jimmie Johnson Favored at Dover

    NASCAR Betting - Jimmie Johnson

Jimmie Johnson is the favorite in NASCAR odds at Diamond sportsbook to win at Dover International Speedway on Sunday in the third race in the Sprint Cup playoffs. Johnson has won the fall race at Dover the past two years and he really needs to make it three in a row if he wants to make up some ground in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

There have been 83 Sprint Cup races at Dover and starting near the front has been critical. 50 of the 83 winners have come from a driver starting from a top five position. The pole winner has won a total of 13 times.

    Jimmie Johnson +450

Johnson is in 10th place in the Chase but all is not lost as he is just 29 points behind Tony Stewart for the lead. It sounds bad but there is plenty of time left with seven races remaining. J.J. has won at Dover six times in his career so this is the perfect track for him to get back into the race for the Sprint Cup. Johnson won this race in 2009 and in 2010 and he also won this race in 2002 and in 2005.

    Kyle Busch +500

He has three straight top 10 finishes at Dover with two of those finishes in the top five including a win last year in the spring.

    Carl Edwards +800

He is one of only two drivers who are coming off three straight top 10 finishes at Dover.

    Jeff Gordon +850

He might be overvalued in NASCAR betting as he has not had a Top 10 finish at Dover since 2009.

    Tony Stewart +900

The red-hot Tony Stewart is tough to go against but at 9-1 he is overvalued. He has not had a top 10 finish at Dover in his last two races.

    Matt Kenseth +1000

He was 18th last year in this race but before that he had finished in the top five in five straight races at Dover.

Also in the mix this week is Kevin Harvick at 12-1, Kurt Busch and Brad Keselowski at 13-1 and Greg Biffle at 18-1. Everyone else on the board is listed with NASCAR odds of 20-1 or more. If you are looking for a big longshot then Jeff Burton at 35-1 is at least worth a look considering how well the Rousch cars have done at this track in the past. Burton finished second in both of the Dover races last year.
