A total of six drivers have single-digit NASCAR betting odds at Diamond Sportsbook. Edwards and Jimmie Johnson are 6-1 and they are followed by Tony Stewart and Matt Kenseth at 7-1, Kyle Busch at 8-1 and Jeff Gordon at 9-1. Kevin Harvick is listed at 12-1.
The race for the Sprint Cup title is very tight with Edwards leading Stewart by just eight points with Harvick and Brad Keselowski also within striking range. Last year it was Denny Hamlin winning this race while two years ago it was Kurt Busch taking the title. Edwards won this race in 2005 and in 2008. The have been a total of 21 Sprint Cup races at Texas Motor Speedway. Strangely enough, the pole sitter has never won this race but that doesn’t mean starting up front is not important because 15 of the 21 winners have started inside the top 10.
Roush Weekend
This should be a great weekend for the Roush cars. Carl Edwards has won three times at Texas Motor Speedway and Roush has a total of eight wins overall. If Roush can get a win this weekend it would be the 300th for the team in NASCAR. Roush has 125 Sprint Cup wins, 123 Nationwide wins and 50 wins in the truck series. “We have been blessed with having a number of very able and very determined, capable drivers that have remained loyal to one another, the team, myself and the organization,” said team owner Jack Roush. “Without that loyalty and that continuity, we would have not been able to have achieved this type of success. In the spring race at Texas it was Matt Kenseth winning while Edwards finished third and Greg Biffle fourth.
Based on those numbers you almost have to take a Roush car to win on Sunday. Edwards is a good choice at 6-1 and it is hard to argue with Kenseth at 7-1 but the value may be on Greg Biffle who has NASCAR odds of 15-1.
