Bud Shootout
The format for the race is the same as last year but NASCAR did make some changes in the restrictor plates as they attempt to get the two-car tandem racing to stop and for the racing to go back to pack racing. It doesn’t appear that anything has changed but the Bud Shootout will give us a good preview of the type of racing we will see in next weekend’s Daytona 500. “The two-car tandem is definitely the way to go, as far as speed,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. said, “You’re not going to be able to out-run that. That tandem stuff is what’s gonna win the race.” All of the top drivers are in the field although last year’s Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne will not be in the field as his team, Wood Brothers Racing couldn’t secure sponsorship for this race. Last year it was Kurt Busch winning the Bud Shootout with some help from Jamie McMurray who pushed him to the win. Don’t look for Busch to do anything this year as he is in a single-car team that has never won a race. A.J. Allmendinger has Busch’s spot in the Penske team and he could be a driver to watch this season. Kasey Kahne is another driver who will get a lot of action in NASCAR betting as he is now with Hendrick Motorsports.
