NASCAR Betting Predictions - Winning Matchups for Sundays Race

NASCAR Betting - Good Sam RV Insurance 500

The second race of the NASCAR season at Pocono is on Sunday with Denny Hamlin the slight favorite. Picking a race winner is one option to consider at the BetDSI sportsbook but another option is the matchups and it is those we want to consider for our NASCAR betting picks.

Before we get to a few specific matchups we have to look at some drivers to focus on. Jeff Gordon has five wins at Pocono and he won the race in June so he is definitely a threat to win again. Denny Hamlin is the favorite and he normally does well at Pocono but the Joe Gibbs’ engines are a concern. Maybe Hamlin will win on Sunday but he is overvalued and a risk. A better driver to take in the matchups is Kevin Harvick. He has finished in the Top 5 in the last three races at Pocono. Harvick is listed in quite a few matchups at BetDSI and you can make a case for taking him in each one but we’ll focus on just two.

    Kevin Harvick vs. Kasey Kahne

This looks to be one of the best matchups on the board and is our top pick in NASCAR betting predictions this week. Harvick needs a good run this week, he has been excellent at Pocono and Kahne is not a Top 10 driver.

    Kevin Harvick vs. Kurt Busch

This is a tougher matchup than the one against Kahne but Kurt Busch seems to be falling apart as the Chase gets closer. Busch has never been one to handle pressure well and another poor finish could be in store for him this week.

    Jeff Gordon vs. Jimmie Johnson

The NASCAR odds makers didn’t do us any favor with Gordon’s two matchups. We want to take him in his matchups but they won’t be easy. Johnson is always a threat to win at Pocono but Gordon is going well right now and should be the favorite.

    Jeff Gordon vs. Denny Hamlin

This is another matchup that is tough since Hamlin is the favorite to win the race but Gordon’s numbers are very good and there is always the chance that Hamlin’s engine blows up to give us an easy win.
