Earnhardt has said that he is very happy at Hendrick and the feeling seems to be mutual. "My feelings haven't changed since the day he first signed with us.” Rick Hendrick said, “I'm committed as ever to putting him in the best possible situation to be successful and compete for wins and championships.”
Earnhardt had nothing but positive things to say about the new deal being wrapped up. "The team's been very competitive this season, and we're all excited about the direction of things.” Jr. said, “I want to make sure we're giving our fans something to cheer about for a long time."
Earnhardt Jr. Focused on a Title
Even though Jr. hasn’t won a race in about two years he is very much alive in the Chase this season. He is in the top 10 in the standings and in pretty good shape with two races remaining in the regular season. "Making the Chase is great and all, but as a person, you want to be the champion," Earnhardt said.
With the contract extension now in the rear view mirror, people can stop talking about Earnhardt Jr. moving to Richard Childress Racing and perhaps driving the No. 3 that his dad drove. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is not a fool and realizes that Hendrick has better cars than Childress and that is best chance of winning a championship is with Hendrick. Junior doesn’t have nearly as much pressure at Hendrick since there are already top drivers like Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon who win races.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. may be popular with fans but gamblers are waiting for him to win a race. Oddsmakers also are not giving Jr. much respect as he is 25-1 to win in NASCAR odds at BetDSI sportsbook to win the Advocare 500 in Atlanta on Sunday.
