Edwards and Stewart finished second and third last week at Phoenix to stay right together in the point’s race. Kasey Kahne got the win at Phoenix but most of the attention was on Edwards and Stewart. Not only are the two separated by just three points, they are both racing at a very high level. Edwards finished a spot ahead of Stewart but Stewart led the most laps so the point’s race remained the same. Two weeks ago the two drivers finished first and second in Texas. This week at Homestead it could be the same scenario. "It's been fun to watch from my standpoint," said Kahne, "I raced with them, right behind them. To be able to beat them today feels pretty good.”
Everything on the Line in Miami
This week’s season finale will be followed more closely than any race in recent Chase history. Both drivers have done well at Homestead with Edwards winning two of the past three races in Miami. It is really a match race between Edwards and Stewart as all of the other Chase drivers have been eliminated including five-time defending champion Jimmie Johnson. Oddsmakers will likely have Edwards as a slight favorite in NASCAR betting over Stewart but it won’t be by much. Both drivers are at the top of their game. "I know for us I can say completely, truthfully this is the best Chase we've ever had," said Edwards, "We haven't gone out and got the trophies that we have in other Chases, but we've performed better than we ever have.”
Edwards or Stewart
Do you simply flip a coin on who you choose to win the Chase in NASCAR odds? Edwards has a slight edge simply because he has a three-point lead but Stewart has more experience having won the championship twice in the past. Edwards is not nervous though. "The last restart at Homestead, neck and neck, tied and if it's best man win, then the hair might be standing up on my neck.” Edwards said, “Right now I am looking at this like this is pretty neat to be a part of and it is fun."
