Race Notes
The pole sitter this year has won eight of the thirteen races. McLaren has been on the pole in the last three races and won each time. The race in Singapore is the only one on the F1 circuit held at night. Fernando Alonso has won twice in Singapore and the pole sitter has won three times. Alsono has a big lead in the points race with seven races left. He leads Hamilton by 37 points, Raikkonen by 38 points and Vettel by 39 points. Hamilton did pick up 10 points with his win in Italy but he still has to make up a lot of ground to catch Alonso. Of the contenders, the interesting one is Raikkonen who is in third place in the standings even though he has not won a race this year. “The podium is a target again. We have had six podiums so far and scored as many points as the top guys in the last few races.” Raikkonen said, “We have managed to get everything out of our package.”
McLaren Focusing on Singapore
It has been all McLaren the past three races as they have taken the checkered flag in each race. Hamilton believes with another win he can put the pressure on Alonso. “I head to Singapore full of positivity and optimism that we can take the title fight to Fernando,” Hamilton said. McLaren sporting director Sam Michael said this week’s race is huge in the race for the Constructors' Championship. McLaren has cut Red Bull’s lead to 29 points going into Sunday’s race. "I think now it is a critical point of the Championship for us," Michael said, "We are coming from behind and we know we have a big challenge to try and get up there in the Constructors' [Championship].”
F1 Betting
The oddsmakers at the online sportsbook know what is going on right now in Formula One. McLaren simply has the edge and Hamilton is the driver to beat. I normally look for value but it is hard to see anyone other than Hamilton winning so I will take him at odds of 2-1.
