UFC 152 on Saturday night in Toronto features a total of 12 fights, five on the main card and seven on the preliminary card. Here is a look at all seven of the preliminary card bouts and predictions.
Preliminary Card (FX)
Vinny Magalhaes vs. Igor Pokrajac
This is an interesting matchup as Magalhaes wants to take this fight to the mat while Pokrajac wants to win a striking battle.
TJ Grant vs. Evan Dunham
Grant is a submission specialist but he has his work cut out for him in this fight against Dunham who has never been submitted. I just can’t see Grant being able to win this by submission so I will take Dunham to get the win.
Sean Pierson vs. Lance Benoist
This one looks like a toss-up that will likely be determined on the mat. Both fighters will look to grind out a decision.
Marcus Brimage vs. Jimy Hettes
Hettes has submitted 9 of his 10 opponents but Brimmage has a good submission defense that might make it difficult for Hettes. I still expect Hettes to find a way to win so I will take him in UFC predictions.
Preliminary Card (Facebook)
Simeon Thoresen vs. Seth Baczynski
This will probably be the best fight on the Facebook portion of the card. Baczynski is 17-8 while Thoresen is 17-2-1. Baczynski has won his last five fights and in this matchup he should be able to push around Thoresen at will. I will look for Baczynski to get the win.
Walel Watson vs. Mitch Gagnon
Gagnon comes in with a record of 8-2 while Watson is 9-4. It is hard to get too excited about taking either one of these fighters against the UFC odds at the sportsbook so I will pass.
Kyle Noke vs. Charlie Brenneman
These two veterans are relegated to the Facebook portion of the UFC 152 card. Noke is 19-6-1 while Brenneman is 15-4. This is likely going to be a boring fight that takes place on the ground. I will look for Brenneman to grind out a win.
