Rashad Evans -160 vs. Phil Davis
The feature bout on Saturday night is the one between Evans and Davis. If Evans gets the win he will get a title shot against Jon Jones. If Davis pulls off the upset then it will likely be Dan Henderson getting the chance against Jones. Both Evans and Davis are good wrestlers so the ground game should be even. In terms of striking the edge goes to Evans. The edge in terms of motivation also goes to Evans as he knows he gets a title shot if he beats Davis. Evans may also want to shut Davis up after Davis said he was going to win. “Let’s get one thing straight, you aren’t beating me,” Evans said to Davis recently, “It can’t come fast enough. I’m going to smash you, dude. He isn’t ready and he knows he isn’t ready. When I look into his eyes, he isn’t ready. You’re just a boy.” The price on Evans at -160 seems fair so we’ll take Evans to get the win.
Chael Sonnen -435 vs. Michael Bisping
It is hard to make any case for Bisping getting the upset win here. Sonnen is simply too strong for Bisping. We don’t normally like to take big favorites in UFC betting but there is simply no other way to go in this fight.
Chris Weidman -155 vs. Demian Maia
The oddsmakers seem to be setting up a trap here trying to entice bettors to take Maia. We aren’t going for it though. Maia is a UFC veteran but Weidman could be a future star. Weidman is taking this fight on short notice but it may not matter. Weidman is 7-0 in his career and he simply looks to have more talent than Maia. There is the concern about his level of experience but Maia is not a fighter who is that dominant. The UFC usually knows what they are doing with matchups and the oddsmakers rarely make big mistakes. We’ll go with Weidman in UFC on Fox-2 predictions.
