UFC 144 Main Card
Frankie Edgar vs. Ben Henderson
The odds on this fight are almost a pick with Edgar a slight favorite at Diamond sportsbook. Even though Edgar is the reining lightweight champion he still isn’t getting a ton of respect from the oddsmakers. “I’m excited to be fighting in Japan,” Edgar said, “It’s the birthplace of martial arts, and what better way to showcase your skills. Ben and myself, we’re very aggressive guys determined to win, so I don’t think it can be anything but exciting.” It should be exciting and we’ll look for Edgar to get the win.
Quinton Jackson vs. Ryan Bader
In this light heavyweight bout that is being billed as the co-feature, it is Jackson who is almost a 2-1 favorite. The odds on this fight seem high as Jackson is in the twilight of his career while Bader is on the way up. Bader seems well prepared for Ramage as he has already talked about being ready for the big shots that Jackson will throw. We will take a shot with the underdog and go with Bader to get the win.
Cheick Kongo vs. Mark Hunt
These two heavyweights will look to put on a show for the fans in Japan. We will look for Kongo to land a big shot and end this one early.
Jake Shields vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama
Fans will be solidly in the corner of Akiyama in this welterweight fight on the main card. Fans will be with Akiyama but we’ll back Shields in UFC 144 predictions.
Anthony Pettis vs. Joe Lauzon
The lightweight battle between Pettis and Lauzon figures to be exciting and too tough to call.
It also looks like Hatsu Hioki vs. Bart Palaszewski and Tim Boetsch vs. Yushin Okami will be on the main card and in those two fights we’ll go with the red-hot Palaszeweski and Boetsch to get wins.
The preliminary card at UFC 144 will include Eiji Mitsuoka vs. Takanori Gomi, Vaughan Lee vs. Norifumi Yamaoto, Steve Cantwell vs. Riki Fukuda, Chris Cariaso vs. Takeya Mizugaki and Issei Tamura vs. Zhang Tiequan.
