Colorado 12-15 on the Road
The Avalanche have been pretty competitive on the road this season as they are just three games under .500. It is said that if you win your home games and play .500 on the road you make the playoffs. The problem for Colorado is that they are nothing special at home. The Avalanche are just a couple points out of a playoff spot and it is amazing they are even in the race. Colorado doesn’t really do anything that well as they are 23rd on offense and 17th on defense. How is this team even a playoff contender?
Vancouver is one of the top scoring teams in the league as they are third in the NHL. The Canucks are led as usual by the Sedin twins with Henrik leading the team in points while Daniel leads the team in shots. At the other end, Vancouver’s goaltending has settled down as Roberto Luongo is finally playing well.
Canucks Own the Avalanche
We mentioned earlier that Vancouver has had a lot of recent success against Colorado. The Canucks have won eight of the last ten against the Avalanche. Vancouver is in the top 10 in the NHL in both offense and defense and the teams is a Stanley Cup contender again this season.
Game Notes
The Canucks have won the first three meetings against Colorado this season. They beat Colorado 3-0 and 3-2 in Denver and they routed the Avalanche 6-0 in Vancouver. The Canucks have won 7 of the last 10 at home against Colorado with six of the games going over the total. In fact, five of the last six at Vancouver have gone over.
NHL Predictions
The Canucks are heavy favorites and even though they have owned the Avalanche we don’t like laying 2-1 that often. We’ll go with the total instead and stick with the trends and take the game over the total.
