    NHL Betting - Carolina Hurricanes

The race towards the post season is heating up in the National Hockey League and the NBC Sports Network will carry a critical Eastern Conference matchup with playoff implications on Monday night as the Carolina Hurricanes host the Washington Capitals. The Capitals have been solid at home and they are solid NHL betting favorites.

    Caps Making Move on Preds

The Capitals struggled with lethargic and inconsistent play during the first half of the season but have since pulled themselves together and look primed for a strong run down the stretch of the regular season. Washington is in a heated race with the Florida Panthers for the top spot in the Southeast Division standings. What has been most disturbing about the Capitals season has been their offense, which ranked a disappointing 11th in the NHL. Washington has always had a suspect defense and that has been no different this season as the Caps ranked 17th in the NHL for goals against. Although he has acted like a spoiled brat for much of the season, Alex Ovechkin still is a lethal threat when his head is right and he was leading Washington in scoring with a shot at a 40 goal campaign.

    Hurricanes Fading

Carolina has been at the bottom of the Southeast Division standings and has been woeful on both ends of the ice as they ranked 20th for goal scoring and an even worse 26th for goals against. Carolina was also ranked at the bottom third in special teams for both power plays and penalty killing.

    Trends

Washington has dominated this head to head series with 8 wins in their last 10 matchups against the Hurricanes as the series has gone under the total in 9 of the last 11 meetings. Washington has paid out in 4 of their last 5 visits to Carolina with 5 of the last 6 games between the teams in Carolina going under the total.

    NHL Pick

The Caps are the power pick here with the better skill, overall team, motivation, and trends all in their favor. Check out the BetDSI Facebook Page for frequent updates on the NHL!
