    Golf Betting - Joburg Open

Joburg Open golf betting odds list Charl Schwartzel as the solid favorite to win this week’s event on the European Tour. Schwartzel is the two-time defending champion of the event and he is one of only two players in the field listed with single digit odds at BetDSI.

The Joburg Open is dominated by South African players in the field. Schwartzel is the favorite at 3.5-1 while Retief Goosen is the second choice in the betting at 8-1. It is a large field for this week’s event but not many top players are in the field. The players compete on the East and West courses at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington in the first two rounds and then they play the East course for the final two rounds. A total of 210 players will try to make it to the weekend, making it the largest field of the year on the European Tour.

    Schwartzel and Goosen

The two favorites this week in Joburg Open golf betting odds look really strong. Schwartzel has won this event the past two years in dominating fashion as he was four clear of Garth Mulroy last year and in 2010 he won by six shots. “It is a golf course I’ve played many times as an amateur and junior and I grew up not too far away from Royal Johannesburg so it is always nice to play the course,” said Schwarztel. “I’ve always got a good feel when I go back there and always enjoy playing the Joburg Open.” If Schwartzel doesn’t win then Goosen could get the victory. He played well last week as he finished third in the Africa Open and he could contend again this week.

    The Rest

After the top two you are hoping a longshot comes in and there are a few to consider. Jaco Van Zyl finished fourth last week and he has finished in the Top 10 in three of his last six starts on the European Tour. He is listed at odds of 16-1. Richard Sterne won this event in 2008 and he finished sixth last week in the Africa Open. He has odds of 22-1. Last week’s second place finisher at the Africa Open, Tjaart Van der Walt is an interesting longshot with odds of 33-1.
