Golf Betting - FedEx Cup Playoffs

Luke Donald is the favorite in golf odds at Diamond sportsbook for The Barclays that begins on Thursday in Edison, New Jersey. The Barclays is the first tournament in the FedExCup playoffs which means the top 125 players in the standings will be in action starting on Thursday.

    FedExCup Playoff Format

Before we preview this week’s tournament let’s review the format of the FedExCup playoffs. The top 125 players on the points list qualify for The Barclays. The top 100 in the standings will then make it into next week’s Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston. The top 70 players then make it into the BMW Championship and after that event the top 30 players make it to the final even which is the Tour Championship.

    The Barclays

This week’s tournament is played at the Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey. It will be the first PGA event at Plainfield. The course is a 6,964-yard par 71 that yield some scores. The 18th is a par 4 but many of the players will be able to reach the green off the tee which should make it an interesting final hole.

    Luke Donald 12-1

He has finished in the top 10 a total of ten times this season. He leads the PGA Tour in adjusted scoring and is ranked #1 in the world.

    Steve Stricker 14-1

If you want to take a shot with Steve Stricker at these betting odds it is hard to argue. He has 11 straight top 20 finishes. He leads the PGA Tour in many categories and he always plays well in the FedExCup.

    Adam Scott 16-1

He has been in the top seven in three of his last four starts. He is playing as well as he ever has and should be a threat in the playoffs.

    Nick Watney 20-1

He comes into the tournament leading the FedEx cup standings but has not played nearly as well lately as he did early in the season.

    Jason Day 23-1

Unlike Kuchar, Jason Day always seems to be in contention for a big win. He can’t be ignored as one of the favorites to win this tournament and the overall FedExCup title.

    Phil Mickelson 25-1

His game is not where it has been in the past but we still see glimpses of the old Phil and if he puts it together for four days he can win.

    Johnson and Simpson 30-1

A couple of longshots in golf odds this week are Dustin Johnson and Webb Simpson. Johnson has yet to win this season and is overdue while Simpson won last week and ranks first on Tour in all-around.
