Adam Scott vs. Nick Watney
You might look at the FedExCup standings and notice that Watney is the points leader. Why then is Scott favored in this matchup? It is pretty simple because Scott is the better player right now. He has finished in the top seven in three of his last four starts and is playing as well as he ever has. Watney’s last three finishes have been a tie for 12th, a tie for 23rd and a missed cut. We’ll go with the hotter player and take Scott.
Jason Day vs. Matt Kuchar
The golf betting odds list Kuchar as the favorite in this matchup although it is hard to see why. Kuchar is the defending champion of this tournament but that means little since this year’s event is on a totally different course. Kuchar has really not played well since early in the season and in his last four tournaments has missed the cut twice and tied for 19th in the two other events. We’ll go with Jason Day.
Dustin Johnson vs. Robert Karlsson
This is a really good tournament for Johnson to pick up his first win of the year. He has four top five finishes this season and should really benefit because of his distance. Johnson is fourth on the PGA Tour off the tee and he is second in birdie average. He looks like a good bet in this matchup against Karlsson.
Brendon De Jonge vs. Graeme McDowell
Of all the matchups at our online sportsbook this one had the highest price with De Jonge a -165 favorite. We have learned in recent weeks that the big prices are winning in golf matchups. McDowell may have the bigger name but De Jonge has the better stats. De Jonge is ranked 40th in scoring average while McDowell is tied for 122nd. Maybe McDowell gets it turned around this week but we’ll go against him in golf betting predictions.
Bubba Watson vs. Hunter Mahan
Watson is second off the tee in distance average and first in greens in regulation. He is also 10th in birdie average. His length is going to be a huge edge this week and he has the advantage in this matchup against Mahan.
