Contenders
Rory McIlroy 4-1
If you want to take McIlroy then it is hard to argue. He is ranked #2 in the world, won this tournament in 2009 and he took last week off to rest.
Martin Kaymer 8-1
He is still overvalued at 8-1 but he is starting to play better as he finished in the Top 10 last week. He sure has been good at Emirates with three top four finishes.
Lee Westwood 10-1
He is usually in the mix each week but like Kaymer, he is probably a bit overvalued in golf odds this week.
Peter Hanson 20-1
He finished in a tie for second last week and he could contend again this week.
Alvaro Quiros 25-1
He won in Dubai twice last year including this event when he beat Anders Hansen and James Kingston by a shot.
Thomas Bjorn 25-1
He won this event in 2001 but you never really know what you are going to get with Bjorn. He shot an opening round 79 last week and then shot a 65 in the second round.
Longshots
Anders Hansen 28-1, George Coetzee 40-1, Robert Rock 40-1
We’ll take a look at these three longshots this week. Hansen was the runner-up last year in this tournament is coming off a 67 in the final round in Qatar last week. Coetzee was sixth last week and always seems to be in contention and Rock has already won this year.
