This will be the seventh straight year that the Sheshan International has hosted the HSBC Champions event in Shanghai. The tournament is headlined by McIlroy and Westwood but some other top players are not in the field including #1 ranked Luke Donald who is taking the week off to be with his wife who is expecting. Also not making the trip to Shanghai is Sergio Garcia who has won the last two weeks. Since he decided not to make the trip his spot goes to Jim Furyk. Some top Americans who are not making the trip even though they qualified are Steve Stricker, Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Webb Simpson and Phil Mickelson.
Rory McIlroy 4.5-1
He won last week and with Luke Donald taking the week off there is no doubt that McIlroy is the deserving favorite in HSBC Champions golf odds. He has finished in the top five in his previous two visits to Sheshan.
Lee Westwood 8-1
Although he has never won in Shanghai, he has two runner-up finishes in his last four trips to Sheshan.
Adam Scott 16-1
It has been a great year for Adam Scott and he is very capable of beating the top two and winning this week.
Nick Watney 20-1
The one big hope for the Americans is Watney who is third on the PGA Tour money list. He finished fifth at Sheshan two years ago.
Martin Kaymer 22-1
You can never count out Martin Kaymer is a big event but he hasn’t had the magic in recent months.
Other Contenders
Charl Schwartzel and Hunter Mahan are each listed with golf betting odds of 25-1 while Francesco Molinari, Geoff Ogilvy and KJ Choi have betting odds of 28-1.
Longshots
There are a lot of intriguing longshots this week like Keegan Bradley and Justin Rose who are both listed at 40-1 and you can get Ben Crane, David Toms, Ernie Els and Thomas Bjorn at 50-1 each.
