Super Bowl XLVI Pointspead - Patriots Favored by 3 vs Giants

    Super Bowl 46 Pointspread

The New England Patriots are a 3-point favorite on the Super Bowl XLVI pointspread at Diamond sportsbook against the New York Giants. The game on Sunday, February 5th will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and it figures to be a high scoring game with the total listed at 55.5.

    Super Bowl XLVI Pointspread

Many sportsbooks opened with the Patriots as a 3.5 point favorite but that number has come down to 3 points. The question over the next two weeks will be whether or not the books are willing to come off of the three and go to 2.5. Sportsbooks don’t like games where the number is right around 3 because they run the risk of getting middled. In the last five years about 15% of all NFL games have been decided by exactly three points and both of this year’s championship games were decided by three points. The sportsbooks would prefer that the Patriots rose to a 3.5 or four point favorite but that is not going to happen. The public is all over the Giants for the Super Bowl and if anything, the line is going to go down to 2.5. It could be that we see the same thing we saw last year as the Packers were a solid three point favorite all week leading up to the Super Bowl.

The sportsbooks around the world are anticipating a great handle on the game as the game is a rematch of the game four years ago that saw the Giants upset the Patriots. Unlike that game, where the sportsbooks lost big because the Giants delivered a huge money line win as a 12-point underdog, this year’s game should be a good one for the books.

    Super Bowl Betting Facts

Both the Giants and the Patriots come into the game on nice rolls. The Patriots have won 10 straight games overall and they are 6-4 ATS in those games. The Giants have won five straight games and they won as an underdog at San Francisco last week. Even though the Patriots are 2-1 as favorites in previous Super Bowls, they are 0-3 ATS. The Giants are 3-1 in their four Super Bowl appearances, twice winning as underdogs. The NFC has won three of the last four Super Bowls and they have covered all four games. In the last three Super Bowls with a total of 50 or more, the under was the winner each time.
