    Pro Bowl Betting

Much of the attention in pro football right now is understandably on the Super Bowl next week but before we get to that game we do have the Pro Bowl to wager on. The NFC is a four-point favorite in Pro Bowl betting odds at Diamond Sportsbook with the total at 73.

Sunday’s Pro Bowl takes place at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii on Sunday at 7:00 pm Eastern time with the game being televised by NBC. The NFC leads the all-time series 21-20 and they won last year’s contest by a score of 55-41.

    Roster Notes

Many of the players selected for the Pro Bowl will not be going as there were 24 replacements as of Wednesday afternoon. It really doesn’t matter after the first few replacements though as the level of talent is pretty equal. The quarterbacks for the AFC are Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers and Andy Dalton while the NFC has Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and Cam Newton.

    Game Notes

The NFC has won four of the last six Pro Bowls. In recent seasons the scores have gotten higher which is why we have such a high total on this year’s game. It wasn’t that long ago where the teams combined to score just 40 points in the 2006 game. The following season they combined to score 59 points and it was 72 points the next season. The scoring game down a little bit three years ago as the NFC won 30-21 but it went right back up two years ago when the AFC won 41-34 and then last year it was ridiculous with 96 points being scored. The two head coaches in this year’s game are offensive coaches as Gary Kubiak of the Houston Texans will coach the AFC while Green Bay’s Mike McCarthy coaches the NFC.

    Pro Bowl Picks

The NFC roster looks stronger than the AFC, especially at the quarterback position which is why the NFC is favored. It is tough to lay points in an All-Star game but we’ll make a small play on the NFC Pro Bowl betting odds and just because the total is so high we’ll also go under.
