The talking heads on sports television must have nothing better to do than talk about Peyton Manning. The Indianapolis Colts quarterback is in the news seemingly every day even though right now he can’t even throw the ball effectively. If Manning was healthy then NFL odds at the sportsbook would be impacted if a team signs him but right now Manning is not.
Manning Can’t Throw
The ESPN hype machine is talking about Peyton Manning every single day but the talking heads don’t seem to realize that right now Manning can’t throw. Everyone seems to be thinking that Manning will regain his arm strength and be the quarterback he was before getting injured but that is far from certain. In fact, Manning may never be able to throw the ball like he did when playing for the Colts. Some reports have indicated that Manning can’t even throw the ball to his left at all and he can’t throw the ball across his body. And receivers have said that Manning has no velocity on this throws.
$28 Million
The Colts have to decide whether or not to pay Manning a $28 million roster bonus in March. Most experts believe the Colts will just release Manning and not pay the bonus. A lot of people are excited about the prospect of Manning playing for another team but all of the talk is ridiculous because right now Manning can’t throw. There is no denying that Manning has been great throughout his career and is a future Hall of Famer but until he shows he can throw, all of the talk surrounding where he might or might not go is totally irrelevant.
The Colts were a disaster this past season without Manning at quarterback as they went 2-14 straight up and 6-10 against the NFL odds. It could be a long time before the Colts ever get back to being a great team as the era of Peyton Manning looks to be over. For more NFL betting news be sure and visit the BetDSI Facebook page today.
