NCAA Football Betting - Chick-Fil-A Bowl

The last football game of 2011 takes place on Saturday night as Virginia plays No. 25 Auburn in the Chick-fil-A Bowl. The Tigers are favored by a field goal in NCAA football betting at Diamond Sportsbook in this game that can be seen on ESPN.

    Auburn -3, total 48.5

The Chick-fil-A Bowl on Saturday night at the Georgia Dome figures to be a good matchup between Virginia and Auburn. The Cavaliers come into the game at 8-4 while the Tigers are 7-5. It is quite a change for Auburn from last year when they were playing for the national championship. It is a big deal for Virginia who is trying to win their first bowl game in six years. "Last year at this time, I was packing it up and putting it away for the season," Virginia wide receiver Kris Burd said. "It's my last game coming up. It's going to be an emotional game and I'm looking forward to it."

Virginia will be looking for a big game from quarterback Michael Rocco who should find success against a porous Auburn secondary. The Cavaliers should also find success on the ground considering they averaged 165.3 yards per game rushing this season. Auburn’s defense was awful this season as they allowed 29.3 points and 405.8 total yards per game. The Tigers will be without defensive coordinator Ted Roof who took the same position at Central Florida. Considering how rotten the Auburn defense was under Roof, his absence is no big loss. Auburn will also be losing offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn who has taken the Arkansas State head coaching job but unlike Roof, he will be coaching in the bowl game before taking his new job. Auburn will also be without top running back Michael Dyer who has been suspended for this game.

    Game Notes

This looks like a good spot for Virginia to get the win as an outright underdog in NCAA football betting considering all of Auburn’s problems. The teams have met twice in history with each team winning a game, the last of which game in 1998.

The Cavaliers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 bowl games. The Tigers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. Looking at the total in NCAA football betting, the Over is 7-1 in the Cavaliers last 8 Bowl games but the Under is 8-1 in the Tigers last 9 Bowl games.
