Florida -2, total 44
The Buckeyes and Gators have not had good seasons and neither team belongs in a big bowl game but their marquee names got them into the Gator Bowl. The biggest news in this game surrounds Urban Meyer who is now the head coach of Ohio State. He will not be coaching the Buckeyes until next season but everyone is talking about how Meyer will turn the Buckeyes into champions again. He won’t do it next season though as the Buckeyes were hit with a bowl ban that will keep them out of national title contention in 2012.
Ohio State finished this past season at 6-6. Why in the world are they playing in the Gator Bowl? They should have been in one of the minor bowls but because they are Ohio State they get the national stage on January 2nd against Florida. The Gators are in the same situation. They were a mess in Will Muschamp’s first season as they finished 6-6. The Gators lost six of their last eight games and they really have no business being in a bowl game at all. "We got out of kilter.” Muschamp said, “We started searching for answers and things we could do against good people. When you lose that confidence, it's tough to regain."
Defensive Struggle
Neither Ohio State nor Florida is any good on offense. The Gators were 102nd in offense while Ohio State was 107th. Again, what are these two teams doing in a bowl game on January 2nd? Just take the game under in Gator Bowl predictions and look for a dull game.
