The East-West Shrine Game is set for Saturday from St. Petersburg, Florida with a start time of 4:00 pm Eastern. The NFL Network will be broadcasting the game in what is a showcase for college football players looking to improve their NFL Draft status. Let’s look at East-West Shrine Game betting.
There will be some people who don’t think you can find an advantage when betting All-Star games while other gamblers love them. Sometimes you can get a huge edge on the oddsmakers if you do a little research on the game. Let’s see if we can find an edge in East-West Shrine Game betting.
When it comes to handicapping the All-Star game we have to start with the quarterbacks. It is really too hard to look at most of the other positions and figure out if either side has an edge but at quarterback we can get an idea. The East quarterbacks are B.J. Coleman of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Austin Davis of Southern Miss and John Brantley of Florida. The West signal callers are Tyler Hansen of Colorado, Dan Persa of Northwestern and Chandler Harnish of Southern Illinois. The edge at quarterbacks has to go to the West. Brantley is overrated, Davis is average and B.J. Coleman didn’t even play at a major college. The West has Persa who can move and throw the ball on the run, Harnish who can do the same thing and Hansen. A lot of the attention will be on Brantley and he has shown no ability to handle pressure in his career. He has looked poor in practice and why will it be any different on Saturday? Davis is decent and could make some plays while Coleman may be in over his head. Persa and Harnish are the two best quarterbacks in this game and that gives the West the edge.
If you need another reason to take the West in college football betting at the offshore sportsbook then take a look at their receivers. They have Jarius Wright and Greg Childs from Arkansas and Junior Hemingway from Michigan.
Game Notes
The East is coached by former NFL head coach Bobby Ross while the West is coached by former Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress.
