Hamilton at Montreal – Alouettes -5.5
The Alouettes are the two-time defending Grey Cup champions but they will have to go the long route if they expect to make it three in a row as they play on Sunday against Hamilton. Montreal does not look like a team that is going to win it all again this year but that doesn’t mean they can’t beat Hamilton in this game.
Montreal is led by quarterback Anthony Calvillo who is the leading passer in CFL history. The problem for Montreal is that Calvillo’s best days are behind him. He was terrible in the last game of the season as he threw for just 63 yards and was sacked four times. On the other side, Hamilton lost four of their last five games so it is hard to have much confidence in the Tiger-Cats. The quarterbacks for Hamilton have not played well this season as neither Kevin Glenn nor Quinton Porter is very good. What Hamilton does have is a big play receiver in Chris Williams and a solid running back in Avon Cobourne.
Low Scoring Game?
This could easily be a defensive battle on Sunday. Hamilton has a game changing player on defense in Justin Hickman who tied for the league lead in sacks with 13. The Under is 6-0 in the Tiger-Cats last 6 games overall and the Under is 6-1 in the Alouettes last 7 home games.
Calgary at Edmonton – Eskimos -2
This should be a very competitive matchup between a Calgary team that comes in having won three straight while Edmonton has won four of five. The Stampeders are going with Drew Tate as quarterback instead of Henry Burris while Edmonton has one of the best signal callers in the league in Ricky Ray. The teams met three times this season with the Eskimos winning two of the three. This CFL betting line seems very low considering Edmonton is at home and is the better team.
Game Notes
The Stampeders are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games. The Eskimos are 6-1 against the CFL playoffs betting odds in their last 7 playoff games. The Stampeders are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings in Edmonton.
