A full slate of games in the Canadian Football League is set for this weekend beginning with Friday’s contest between British Columbia and Toronto. Both teams come into the game badly in need of a win and the CFL betting odds on this game are tight with the game listed as a pick at the online sportsbook.
Normally on Labour Day weekend it would be Toronto playing Hamilton but not this year. This time around it is B.C. visiting Toronto in a matchup of 2-6 teams. The reason that the traditional Toronto-Hamilton matchup didn’t happen this year was scheduling problems at the Rogers Centre. The Argonauts are simply not a great draw anymore and they don’t always get top billing. The Argos have just one home win this season and are averaging just 20,291 fans.
B.C. Still Has Hope
The Lions may be 2-6 but they are not giving up on the season. Head coach Wally Buono believes the Lions can turn things around. The key will be the play of third-year quarterback Travis Lulay. Two weeks ago the Lions got a great win over Edmonton that may have turned their season around. "I'd be disappointed if we were 4-4, and we're 2-6.” Buono said, “But I do feel we're getting over the hump. This is why I say the next handful of games are so critical. It's all about timing. The next 10 games are more important than the first eight." Last year B.C. started 1-7 and then won seven of their last ten games. Buono thinks this team is better and can do more.
Toronto is also coming off a win two weeks ago as they beat Saskatchewan. Normally beating the Roughriders would mean something but not this year as Saskatchewan is the worst team in the league at 1-7. Let’s see if Toronto can win this week at home against a B.C. team that may have turned things around. Maybe there is a reason this game is a pick in CFL odds even though Toronto is at home.
Game Trends
The Lions are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in Week 10. The Lions are 11-2 ATS in their last 13 games in September. The Argonauts are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Friday games. The Argonauts are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games. In this series, 11 of the last 14 games have gone under the total in CFL betting.
