Timothy Bradley Jr. vs. Jessie Vargas Odds and Picks
Monday, June 22nd, 2015By Tom Wilkinson
Boxing Odds: Timothy Bradley Jr. is favored to defeat Jessie Vargas in a bout on Saturday, June 27th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California on HBO. Bradley comes into this fight with a record of 31-1-1 but he has not won in over a year while Vargas is 26-0. This welterweight fight is scheduled for 12 rounds and considering neither fighter is known for their power it could be that it goes the distance. Bradley has 12 knockouts in his career while Vargas has 9.
Here is a look at the fight and boxing picks.
Bradley Very Motivated
Timothy Bradley Jr. has 31 wins in his career but in his last two fights he lost to Manny Pacquiao and fought to a draw against Diego Gabriel Chavas. Bradley has been training extremely well for this bout against Vargas and he is very motivated. “I want my title belt back too. That motivates me. I don’t care if Vargas is training in the mountains with his new trainer Erik Morales. The StubHub Center is my War Ground as Vargas is about to find out.”
Bradley has changed his diet and his training to increase his strength. “I want to be strong and get a decisive win over Vargas – like knock him out and put him to sleep. I know he’s going to have a will to win but I am generating more power in camp. I’ve gone back to my roots in training, doing things which got me to this high level. I am not on a vegan diet for this training camp. I am eating fish, chicken and once a week, steak, to help build up my strength and power.
Vargas Stepping up in Competition
Jessie Vargas comes in unbeaten at 26-0 but he really hasn’t beaten anyone of note lately. He beat Khabib Allakhverdiev, Anton Novikov and Antonio DeMarco in his last three fights but didn’t look very good in doing say. He takes a huge step up in competition against Bradley. Vargas has no real power and no real way to hurt Bradley.
Bradley simply has to win this fight to be able to line up some marquee opponents and he should as Vargas hasn’t fought anyone of note. Vargas is unbeaten but it is hard to find any really good wins on his resume. This should be a dominating win for Bradley who has far more skill than Vargas. I will lay the price and take Bradley to win on Saturday.
