Boxing Odds: Gennady Golvkin will defend his middleweight title on Saturday, April 23rd at the Forum in Inglewood, California against Dominic Wade. “Triple G” is 34-0 in his career with 31 knockouts while Wade comes into this bout at 18-0 with 12 knockouts. Oddsmakers are not giving Wade much of a chance as Golovkin is listed as a huge favorite in this fight that can be seen on HBO.

    Triple G Staying Focused

Golovkin is unbeaten in his career and rarely have the fights gone the distance with Triple G winning 31 times by knockout. He won the interim WBA World middleweight title in 2010 when he beat Milton Nunez. He defended that title 10 times and then added the IBF title, IBO title and WBC title with wins over David Lemieux, Lajuan Simon and Marco Antonio Rubio. Golovkin is very focused on fighting Wade and not looking ahead to a mega-fight against Saul Alvarez. “We’re working hard every day, focused only on Dominic Wade,” said Triple G. “It’s a very important fight for me. He’s an undefeated challenger. Every fight for me is important to achieve my goal of all the belts. I’m very excited to return to the Forum, Los Angeles is my second home, my family lives here now. I have a lot of friends and many fans who want to see me fight and I’m very thankful for that. The people love my style.”

    Wade Relishing his Big Shot

Wade is coming off a win over Sam Soliman in June to earn a mandatory challenger shot from the IBF. “I learned a great deal from that fight,” said the Wade, “Fighting Soliman it was very difficult to keep my composure but I kept my focus throughout and persevered. He was holding and trying to throw me down, it was definitely a learning experience and I’m better off for it.” “I’ve increased the tempo and the training for this fight. I know how good Gennady is and for me to win I have to give myself the best chance. We’ve done a lot more strength and conditioning, mixing up 5-6 miles runs with sprints in the morning.”

    Boxing Picks

Wade has some talent but we really don’t know how much as his only decent win came against Soliman and that was by split decision. There is no questioning Golovkin who is one of the top boxers in any division as he has 21 straight knockouts. He should make it 22 straight on Saturday although the price is way too high to take him.
