The super middleweight title will be on the line in Atlantic City on Saturday night as Carl Froch takes on Andre Ward. It is expected to be an excellent battle between two fighters who have a combined record of 52-1. Ward is the favorite in the fight but Froch should get some action from gamblers making boxing picks.
Ward -350, rounds 11.5 (over -550)
If you love boxing then be sure and check out the BetDSI Facebook page. Ward is 24-0 in his career with 13 knockouts while Froch is 28-1 in his career with 20 knockouts. This battle on Saturday night is the culmination of a tournament that will unify the super middleweight title. Both Froch and Ward were very impressive last time out as Ward destroyed Arthur Abraham while Frock put a beating on Glen Johnson.
There are a couple of options to consider in boxing picks for this bout on Saturday night. Ward may end up getting the win but with betting odds of more than 3-1 there is no value. Froch is not without a chance but he will face a decided disadvantage in terms of the hometown crowd and after what happened with Amir Khan, it is hard to make a case for Froch winning in Atlantic City. British fighters have gotten no breaks at all this year so if this fight on Saturday is close it seems unlikely that Froch would get the decision. “It’s always a concern,’ said Froch, “I’m fighting an American, on American soil. He’s an Olympic gold medalist, he’s the golden boy, he’s undefeated, he’s a great talent. He’s young, he’s good-looking he speaks well - he’s all the marketable things that a broadcaster like Showtime and the Americans want.” Froch is capable of pulling off the upset if he gets a fair chance.
The better choice in boxing odds at BetDSI sportsbook could be the rounds option. Ward doesn’t take many chances as he prefers to outbox his opponents. Froch wouldn’t seem to have the power to knockout Ward so this fight should go the distance. The oddsmakers seem to think so as well with the over at -550.
