The IBF Cruiserweight title will be on the line on Saturday in Frankfurt, Germany as Yoan Pablo Hernandez takes on Steve Cunningham. This is one fight that should be worth watching as both fighters have talked trash leading up to their rematch. Let’s look at the odds for this fight and our boxing predictions.
Cunningham -140, Rounds 9.5 (over -200)
Hernandez is 25-1 in his career with 13 knockouts while Cunningham is 24-3 with 12 knockouts. It is too bad that the fight between Yoan Pablo Hernandez and Steve Cunningham won’t be televised in the U.S. because it should be a great bout. It is a rematch of last October’s bout that Hernandez won in controversial fashion. Hernandez won as the fight was stopped at the end of the sixth round after Cunningham head butted Hernandez, opening cuts above his eye. The IBF determined that the fight shouldn’t have been stopped an ordered a rematch. “It was the wrong decision to stop the fight,” Cunningham said. “All I ask for on Saturday is an equal playing field. Hernandez is a good fighter but I am better. I will prove that I am the best cruiserweight.”
Hernandez nearly knocked out Cunningham in the first round back in October but a long count helped Cunningham survive and make it to the bell. After that first round, Cunningham came back strong and was leading on one judge’s scorecard after six rounds. It was a great fight with the two trading a lot of shots. If the first fight had gone the distance it could have gone either way which is why the betting odds are so low for Saturday’s rematch.
Boxing Predictions
This should be the best fight of the weekend and we like Cunningham to come out on top. He has extra motivation to win after getting denied last time. "I don't want to just take the title," Cunningham said. "I want to rip it back. I want to run into his house, snatch the belt off his waist and walk out with him on the floor."
