Vitali Klitschko is a 7-1 favorite in boxing odds on Saturday night as he defends his WBC heavyweight title against Tomasz Adamek. Boxing odds are on the board at BetDSI sportsbook for this bout which takes place at Stadion Miejski in Wroclaw, Poland. Let’s preview this 12-round fight and see if Adamek has a chance at the upset.
Before we get to the boxing picks on this bout we want to note that a rounds proposition is also available on this scheduled 12-round fight. The rounds are listed at 9.5 at our online sportsbook with the over at -135.
Combined Records of 86-3
There is no denying that boxing is not as exciting as UFC action but every now and then there is a good matchup and that is the case for Saturday. Even though Klitschko is -700 he is not a lock to win this fight. Adamek comes into the fight at 44-1 with 28 knockouts while Klitschko is 42-2 with 39 knockouts.
Size Advantage
The problem for Adamek is a huge size disadvantage as Klitschko is 6’7” but Adamek has beaten some good heavyweights including Andrew Golota, Chris Arreola and Michael Grant so he is not without a chance. The problem for Adamek is finding a way to actually get inside to hurt Klitschko. Not many fighters have been able to do it as Klitschko has not lost a fight in eight years. That may say more about the pathetic competition in the heavyweight division than anything else. Adamek has only lost once in his career but he hasn’t fought anyone either.
Adamek Will Look to Move Around the Ring
There is no doubt that the only chance Adamek has is to move around the ring and try and stay out of danger against Klitschko. Anyone that has tried to stand and trade punches with Klitschko has found the floor. If Adamek can take a punch (which is still in question) he has a chance to make this an interesting fight. Adamek will have to be well conditioned to win this fight because he will have to constantly be on the move. If he slows down and becomes an easy target it is over. In the end that is probably what will happen but probably not until late in the fight.
