Hopkins comes into this fight with a record of 52-5 while Dawson is 30-1. Hopkins continues to amaze the boxing world as he is already the oldest boxer to win a major championship. He beat Jean Pascal back in May for the WBC light heavyweight title. Now he will defend that title against Dawson.
“Whatever Chad Dawson brings to the table, I will beat him,” Hopkins said
Dawson -140, rounds 11.5 over
It is somewhat surprising to see the boxing odds at the sportsbook on this fight considering all Hopkins does is win. He is in superb shape and there is no reason he can’t win this fight as the underdog in boxing picks. Dawson suffered his first defeat as a pro, losing to Pascal in a major upset. Dawson has switched trainers since that loss going from Manny Stewart to John Scully. "I got bored. I lost to Pascal, a fight I should have never lost," Dawson said. "I felt like if I had Scully in my corner for that fight, that wouldn't have happened. (In) recent fights, I feel like I started to slouch a little bit, get lazy. I think Scully is a trainer that has what it takes to bring the best out of me.”
Experience vs. Youth
Hopkins is very confident coming into Saturday night’s fight saying "You're going to see a fight where the youth wants to take the lion in the jungle and retire him. I'm just not ready to go, to leave the jungle," Hopkins said, “I love the fundamentals of boxing. I still love the heart of boxing; I still love the hit, and not get hit, of boxing.”
Keep in mind as you make boxing picks that on the undercard in Los Angeles it will be Jorge Linares against Antonio DeMarco for the vacant WBC lightweight title. Linares is 31-1 with 20 knockouts while DeMarco is 25-2-1 with 18 knockouts.
