Boxing Odds for Manfredo vs Chavez Fight

A middleweight battle between Peter Manfredo Jr. and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. can be seen on HBO on Saturday night. Here is a look at this fight that has Chavez heavily favored in boxing odds at Diamond Sportsbook.

Chavez will be defending his WBC middleweight title against Manfredo in this bout from Reliant Arena in Houston, Texas on Saturday night. Chavez is -650 in boxing odds. Chavez is unbeaten in his career with a record of 43-0-1 with 30 knockouts. He won the WBC belt in June as he beat Sebastian Zbik but not many people considered it a true title fight since Sergio Martinez was the champion before somehow being stripped of the title.

Manfredo is 37-6 in his career with 20 knockouts and is not someone that Chavez can just run over. He will probably lose against Chavez but he at least should give a good account of himself. This is not the slam dunk victory that the oddsmakers are expecting. Manfredo is very capable of making this interesting. The problem he has is two-fold. He is not quite as talented as Chavez and if the fight goes to a decision he has to hope for judges that are fair.

    Win or Retire for Manfredo

If he wins this bout against Chavez then Manfredo would be in line for a huge fight against Sergio Martinez. If he loses, Manfredo has said he is done. He has said he wants to spend more time with his kids and that a loss will push him into retirement.

    Crowd Will Favor Chavez

It is always tough for an underdog to get a decision when the crowd is for the favorite. That will be the case on Saturday night when about 10,000 people will be at a plaza next to Reliant Stadium, many of whom will be cheering for Chavez. Manfredo is confident he can handle the crowd and he is confident he can trade shots with Chavez. The boxing betting odds are definitely appealing with Manfredo as he is a big underdog and he is not without a chance on Saturday night.
