Abner Mares -165 vs. Joseph Agbeko
A big bantamweight bout is set for Saturday night in Las Vegas as Mares takes on Agbeko. This bout will be the culmination of the Showtime bantamweight tournament. It will also be a championship fight since Agbeko holds the IBF 118 pound title. Agbeko has a record of 28-2 with 22 knockouts while Mares is unbeaten at 21-0-1 with 13 knockouts. The winner of this fight will likely get a shot against WBO and WBC champion Nonito Donaire if a TV deal can be worked out. Showtime has the option on the next fight for the winner of Mares-Agbeko while HBO gets the next one for Donaire.
Mares is the favorite on Saturday night in when betting on boxing at Diamond sportsbook as he looks to stay unbeaten. Mares is very confident coming into this bout. “I had a draw against Yonnhy in a fight a lot of people thought I won.” Mares said, “So I definitely don’t want to lose or have a draw in this fight.”
David Tua -430 vs. Monte Barrett
The other bout this weekend that is attracting attention in online betting is the one between Monte Barrett and David Tua in New Zealand. This might be the last time that we see Tua in the ring as he said he may retire win or lose against Barrett. "I'm looking forward to this but it potentially could be my last fight." Tua said. Tua comes into the bout with a record of 52-3-2 with 43 knockouts while Barrett is 34-9-2 with 20 knockouts.
Last year these two battle to a very exciting 12-round draw. It was not expected to be a close fight in boxing betting odds but Tua didn’t really show up which gave Barrett a chance to win. Most fight fans believe Barrett should have been awarded the decision, especially since he became the first fighter to ever put Tua on the canvas.
