Khan -1100, round total 9.5 (over -155)
The oddsmakers heavily favor Khan in this fight against Peterson. Khan is the IBF and WBA junior welterweight title holder and at 24 years old he is getting a lot of respect. Khan is 26-1 in his career with 18 knockouts. This might be Khan’s last fight at 140 pounds as he could move up to 147 and take on either Manny Pacquaio or Floyd Mayweather. “If they put Floyd Mayweather in front of me, I’ll be more than ready.” Khan said.
Home Crowd Edge for Peterson
One thing that Peterson has going for him is the home crowd edge in Washington, DC. That probably won’t be enough against Khan who is familiar with fighting away from home. "I'm not really concerned about fighting in his backyard," said Khan. "It's just one of those things. I do know that when you're fighting in your hometown you do train that bit harder, just to prove to your home fans how good you are.” Khan actually believes he will get more respect by beating Peterson in his home town. "From my point of view, I get even more respect for going to his hometown to fight," he said.
Peterson is 29-1-1 in his career with 15 knockouts. His one loss against the boxing betting odds occurred when he failed in his title shot against Timothy Bradley in 2009. It is likely his second loss is going to occur on Saturday night as Khan is likely just too good for Peterson and he is confident. “Our job is to beat him and move on to bigger and better things. This is going to make me from being a good fighter to a super star.” Khan said, “Beating Lamont Peterson will hopefully make me one of the best fighters in the world. My power, my speed, I don’t think he can cope with that.”
