The WBO World Lightweight title will be on the line on Saturday in London, England as Ricky Burns battles Michael Katsidis. This fight will have an early start time in the U.S. so keep that in mind when you make your boxing wager at Diamond sportsbook.
Katsidis -170
The boxing betting odds at our sportsbook have Katsidis as a solid favorite in this fight. He is 28-4 in his career while Burns is 32-2. These two would seem to be the best in the division behind Juan Manuel Marquez. Two years ago it was Marquez beating Katsidis so there may not be much incentive for that matchup again assuming Katsidis wins this fight against Burns. Katsidis has lost four times in his career but all of his losses were against top competition. Burns has only two losses in his career but his level of competition really hasn’t been all that great even in the fights he has won.
The edge in power in his fight is definitely with Katsidis. Burns is moving up in weight class and he was not known for having a strong punch even at the lower weight. This really looks like a fight that Katsidis should win by knockout. If he doesn’t get the knockout then he is probably in trouble because Burns is the better boxer. “Now people are going to see a far stronger Ricky Burns. I've been doing a lot more upper body strength work and I look different.” Burns said. While Burns seems to be confident in his ability, rarely does a boxer move up in weight class and then suddenly develop power. Burns does realize that he is in for a difficult fight on Saturday saying, “I couldn't have got a harder fight if I tried but these are the fights I wanted because you have to beat the best to be the best.”
Katsidis is the favorite in boxing betting at our online sportsbook and for good reason. He has more power and a better overall resume than Burns and anything other than Katsidis knockout win would be a surprise.
