The reason that the Knicks have taken off is point guard Jeremy Lin who has taken the NBA by storm. The Knicks were a team with a lot of talent with Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire but they had no guidance. With Lin at the point the Knicks now look like a contender. In his first five games as a starter, Lin averaged 27.2 points and 8.8 assists per game.
J.R. Smith Ready to Sign
The Linsanity that has swept the league also appears to have helped the Knicks land a big name. J.R. Smith who many teams were courting is reportedly going to sign with New York. Smith’s agent is the same one who represents Carmelo Anthony so it makes sense that Anthony would be having a role in the Knicks landing Smith.
New York’s starting lineup now looks very formidable with Lin at the point along with Anthony, Stoudemire, Smith and Tyson Chandler. The Knicks should beat New Orleans on Friday but they then get a big test on Sunday as they host the Dallas Mavericks on ABC.
