Alabama Suspensions
The Crimson Tide were without three players on Saturday as Alabama head coach Anthony Grant suspended JaMychal Green, Trevor Releford and Andrew Steele before Alabama’s game against LSU. Earlier in the week Tony Mitchell was suspended as well. "I'm very disappointed in terms of some of the choices that we as individuals made," Grant said after the loss to LSU, "But you're dealing with young men. I was a college student at one point. Can't say that I did all the things right all the time.” Grant had not decided whether any of the suspended players would play on Tuesday against Florida. "Short-term future is we'll go back and get prepared for our game Tuesday," he said. "Long-term future is to continue to grow and build our program to represent this university and our fans and the community the way they should be represented."
Checking the starting lineup will be critical as Green leads the team in scoring at 14.1 points per game while Releford is averaging 12.4 points per game. Mitchell is averaging 13.1 points and 7.0 rebounds per game while Steele is averaging 5.8 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. In the loss on Saturday, the Crimson Tide started four freshmen.
Florida Forward Yeguete is Doubtful
One of Florida’s best players, forward Will Yeguete probably won’t play on Tuesday. He suffered a concussion on Saturday against Tennessee and Florida head coach Billy Donovan said he is listing Yeguete as doubtful for Tuesday. Yeguete is Florida’s best defender and rebounder. He is averaging 6.4 rebounds per game.
